Types of Mediation

You can resolve your divorce case through various kinds of mediation processes. For example, a Friend of the Court Domestic Relations Mediation is a common way to resolve the case. It is a process where a mediator agent acts in the judge’s stead and delegates the wealth distribution and custody between the spouses. The two parties can choose a neutral party to be the mediator, but if they cannot come to an agreement, the court can appoint someone to be the mediator. This type of mediation process focuses on resolving the matter of parenting time. Rather than just lay down a solution, the mediator will listen to both sides and help to offer a solution that is beneficial for every party involved.

Another common mediation process is evaluative mediation. This is a process in which both parties cannot agree on the proposed mediation term, which requires the mediator to write up a settlement agreement for both parties to review. Both parties will have a chance to go through the proposed settlement and decide whether or not the terms are acceptable to them. If the two parties can it come to an agreement, the next step will be to take the case to court.

Divorce Mediation

Divorce is stressful, as there is so much at stake for both sides. This means that the process can be quite emotional at times. A professional lawyer understands that your emotional state will have an impact on your decision, and they will help to make sure that you are making all of your choices with a level head. They will look at the case with a clear mind. This may give you a more accurate perspective of the case, which may help you to get the most out of the mediation process.
